Gramophone discs have so entered into our way of life, that it now seems they have always been there. However the first gramophone disc record in Russia was released 70 years ago, in September, 1910. It weighed over 400 grams.

The bulletin "Gramophone world" has informed her readers: "As we reported in these days in suburban district of Aprelevka in Moscow, the first Russian factory for mass gramophone pressing plates - Undoubtedly, the new enterprise has a bright future, because there has long been an urgent need of such factory in Russia".

In 1919 the factory for the manufacture of gramophone discs went under the management of "Centropichati" - the Central agency for the supply and distribution of printed products, where the department of "Soviet plate" was created.

History of the factory in Aprelevka is the history of our Native land as reflected in music word. Songs of the civil war, the first five-year melodies of the pre-war years... And during the Great Patriotic War, the factory continued producing songs. Gramophone disc waited at the war fronts. They filled hearts with love of the Motherland and hatred for the enemies.

After the end of the war, changes were made at the factory. In 1948 the manufacture of domestic synthetic resin was introduced in the factory. It replaced the expensive imported raw materials. The work done by engineer V. Hazandji and his colleagues was crucial for the domestic audio industry. The problem of a raw-material base was solved, and so there was the opportunity for the unlimited release of gramophone records.

In 1953, in the factory at Aprelevka, the first long-playing record, with records of the works of P. I.Chajkovski was stretched. Instead of three minutes the plate began to play for 40 minutes. In 1961, the first stereophonic plate was created.

In the beginning of its existence, the factory produced up to 200 thousand gramophone discs in one year. Now it is about 76 million. This is approximately half of all sound discs that are being produced by firms of the all-Union "Melody". And in 70 years at the factory, 1.5 billion plates were produced.

Today, the weight of sound discs has decreased up to 120 grams, reaching the volumetric stereophonic sounding, thanks to the antistatic plate additives which are securely stored and does not attract dust.

On the plans - release of discs with four-channel record (kvadrifoniya). These audio discs, during listening, create full illusion of presence at a concert or at opera theatre... The manufacture of "video gramophone discs" is expected in the near future.

No, the author of an old remark was not wrong. The company in "Aprelevka district" had "a good future ".
